This photo essay on the Stasi Prison by German photographer Thomas Meyer is incredible. The images are hauntingly beautiful and quiet in a way that puts the viewer right in one of jail cells. Pretty eerie. More images after the jump.

The UT School of Architecture recently hosted Chris Payne to talk about his documentation of state asylums, which are now mostly abandoned. His work has this same clinical beauty and allusion to secret histories.
