I love magazines. I especially love Paste. It’s been crazy hearing over the last few months that so many are struggling, though it isn’t too surprising. The one that did surprise me was Paste. I met founder Josh Jackson a few years ago when working on Before the Music Dies and ever since have been a loyal reader. The writers and publishing staff “get” music. They understand that the music business and the record business are two different things. That people who want to hear about music read Paste and people who want to hear about records read People Weekly and High School Music Monthly.

Paste recently has asked for some short term help to get it through this economic downturn. It doesn’t have the deep pockets of some of the larger magazines and publishing houses since it is only 6 years old and not backed by a large company. They’re asking for any kind of monetary donation you can spare, and in exchange you get access to a vault of rare b-sides and recordings donated by many artists including She & Him and the Decemberists.
