Old School Playgrounds

1

Back in my day, playgrounds weren’t made of plastic. They were shiny, metallic, sources of scalding hot fun during the hot Texas summers. The designers also didn’t hide their purpose from anyone; to cage children for a short amount of time and only let a few of us out at a time. This collection of photographs of old playgrounds really brings back the memories for me and makes me wish I was a kid again.

I’m sorry to whip out the all-caps, but I LOVE THIS. It absolutely made my day.

oh how i long for the scalding hot fun that only a playground in the texas summer can provide…sigh.

i grew up in temple, tx and we had a playground (jaycee park) that featured a large, metal rocket with a slide. unfortunately, wasn’t able to find a photo…but, oddly enough, there is a jaycee park in illinois that has an identical rocket!
