Hye-Yeon Park’s ‘Mr. Clock’

Park’s Mr. Clock taps into that age-old question, What if all the inanimate objects in our lives “woke up” and had lives of their own as soon as we left the room? To whit: Mr. Clock only displays the correct time when people are directly engaging it, that is, standing right in front of it. Otherwise, the clock shows random number sequences, partial numbers, etc. This pseudo-rebellion on the part of Mr. Clock, the refusal to indicate the correct time unless we’re “interacting” with it, indeed seems to imbue the object with a personality of its own. Love it.
