Going Rogue

Once upon a time there were books that were published that had useful information in them. They allowed you to discover the wonders of the world right from the seat of your home. You could open them up, spend a few hours perusing and walk away a more enlightened individual. Though you may not believe me, I assure you that there was in fact a time before Sarah Palin occupied the New York Times Bestsellers list. The above video details John Carerra’s amazing work to republish Pictorial Webster’s for the modern public to enjoy. Not only is the content astounding, but his work on the Fine Press edition is incredibly refreshing. The amount of time he spends on it harkens to a time before reading a novel required you to plug your Kindle in to the wall for a quick recharge. Craftsmanship like this in a time when few people spend more than 15 minutes doing anything is truly incredible.

Thanks to Trent Walton for turning me on to this. It absolutely made my day.

The amount of time & effort involved in that project makes me feel like a prat for whining about having to open up a photoshop document to swap out some layers.
