For the most part I wouldn’t consider myself a fan of the traditional landscape photograph. However, all of my negative sentiments toward landscapes go right out the window when they are shot from hundreds of feet above. Gerco de Ruijter created a series of these aerial images titled Baumschule which capture the vast natural and artificial landscapes in the Netherlands from above.
Aside from their visual impact, the images are also very intriguing from technique stand point, and as it turns out Gerco created these photographs using a camera mounted to a helium blimp, a fishing rod and a kite! Pretty amazing.
So in case anyone was wanting to buy me an early birthday present, I am now in need of need a new photo toy- camera blimp.
