The “techmo’nology” behind vinyl records has always mesmerized me. CDs are obviously created with lasers that the aliens brought down, but vinyl…now that’s science! Check out these interesting images of record grooves under an electron microscope. This side view of a record looks like a rad landscape pic from a vintage iPhone.

I recently came across the blog Project Thirty-Three, a treasure chest of vintage album art. All of the records were collected and scanned in by Jive Time Records. Do yourself a favor and take a peek at all the great colors, shapes, and typography.

Forest Family Records is a new label project founded by the righteous dudes at Gorilla vs. Bear and Weekly Tape Deck. Their first release is a 7″ yellow vinyl single of Cults – “Go Outside”. To send this to the next level 10% of profits will be donated to charity benefiting animals. This specific release will go towards the Humane Society.
