Take a minute to check out Moscow born photographer, Sasha Rudensky. Her work has been exhibited all over the world and featured in such publications as PDN and American Photo magazine. She received her MFA from Yale University School of Art in 2008 and she is currently working as a visiting professor at Wesleyan University.
The basis for my work is a desire to negotiate the psychological echoes of a personal history set against a backdrop of political and social change in the former Soviet Union. My ambitions as a photographer are informed by a childhood spent moving between Russia and the US. I am looking to understand the nature and meaning of Place, as defined by national identity and history, and as a space fictionalized and manufactured.
One of our new years resolutions is to post more about studio news and our own work on here, so between this and the new flags we are off to a good start. This stuff is just a set of a few images I shot while in West Texas over the New Years break. The shot above is of a ridge between Study Butte and Alpine. I spent about a half a week in Alpine with my girlfriend. We camped in Big Bend one night, ate at the Gage Hotel in Marathon and spent New Years in Marfa with a couple of the other PUBLIC SCHOOL fellas.
Meet Matthieu Gafsou. Swiss photographer born in 1981 with a hell of a body of work. Gafsou is obviously well traveled and has a knack for capturing some unbelievably interesting spots.
I couldn’t find very much information on Brendan Henning, but he is from Chicago and he does have some nice photographs. From what I can tell, he likes good lighting and traveling… I can get behind that. Stroll through his flickr stream and check out my personal favorites after the jump…
This post is here for two reasons. Reason number one is to tell you about GOOD‘s awesome infographic on the most fuel efficient airlines. The second is to tell you that Jay B, Cody and Casey will be making their way around the country in a few weeks.
On the itinerary are Portland, Seattle, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Las Los Angeles and San Juan, Puerto Rico. If you reside in any of those cities, comment up and maybe we can meet up and say howdy. The dates aren’t set in stone aside from the couple of days in Chicago that start on September 7th and Portland on the 15th. If you live in any of the above places, let us know!
