Tim Barber: NYC Bridge Runners

bridge1

For the past 5 years I have been severely passionate about 2 things, photography and running. I was extremely pleased when I came across this. New York photographer, Tim Barber, has just opened a show documenting the NYC Bridge Runners. The group made up of young creatives, come together during the week to run the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges. The exhibition will be open until December at Nike Stadium.

“I decided to shoot it all black and white to accentuate that gritty energy of the streets of New York… I was shooting real runners in their natural environments so I wanted the images to reflect and translate that realness… It was a really exciting challenge, working with a group out in the elements. I grew up skateboarding, and I wanted to approach photographing the runners the same way I would approach photographing skaters. I’ve always loved the relationship skateboarding has with the city environment, and I wanted to show that same relationship with the runners.”

I am going to try my best to make it to NY before this show ends and hopefully meet up with the crew for a run. My favorite pics are after the jump, but please take time to explore them all…

The Intertwine

Portland seems to be a pretty physically active city, but for anyone left there that needs reminding, The Bureau of Betterment produced this collection of designs to help promote the city’s outdoor areas. I’m in love. See more of the project after the jump, and be sure to see more of the portfolio on The Bureau of Betterment site.
