All Together Now

All Together Now

All Together Now is a group exhibition curated by Nashville’s Adrienne Miller at Vanderbilt’s Space 204. If you’re in the area the show will be up until early August. What should you expect to see?

“This exhibition will focus on the growing trend of pattern and proletariat influence in contemporary art. This show is not drawing works together by concept or message, but through form, color, materials, and the repeated mark. Elements of “lower art forms” are sneaking back into contemporary art in significant ways. Artists are using methods such as silkscreen printing, hand lettering, collage, and other unlikely material combinations with an awareness of current trends and culture. This type of work bridges the gap of playful, yet intelligent, having experience and personality without becoming pedantic. The rise of the rock poster, the influence of folk art, graffiti, craft elements and commercial design are infiltrating traditional gallery shows and should be seen as significant influences for the upcoming generation of fine artists.”

The artists include: Laura Baisden, Kelly Bonadies, Clare J. Bowers, Will Bryant (that’s me!), Andrew Burkitt, Chris Cheney, Gregory Scott Cook, Ann Flowers, Tate Foley, Alyson Fox, Chad Kouri, Bryce McCloud, Michelle Ramin, Stacey Reason, Sonnenzimmer, Brad Vetter, Betsy Walton, Lindsey Warren, and Lulu Wolf. After the jump you can check out some great photos of the gallery and an amazing event poster by Brad.

Hatch Show Print

Hatch Show Print

A group of us took a little field trip Saturday to the Austin Museum of Art to see their exhibit on Hatch Show Print. It was incredible to see the beautiful posters alongside many of their corresponding wood engravings. It’s truly amazing. If you’re in Austin and dig the hell out of letterpress the way we do, I recommend you take a trip down there and see it all for yourself.

The show runs through May 9th and you can find more information here.
