Volcanoes From Space

Volcanoes generally deservedly get a bad rap but are way less intense looking when photographed from space. This collection of images comes care of NASA and features some beautiful depictions of eruptions from miles above.

Learn Everything About The Space Shuttle

We only have one more Space Shuttle launch before the most complex piece of machinery built by humans ends its lifespan. In this interesting video, a couple of NASA engineers describe what goes in to the launches using the high speed technical cameras used to analyze each launch.

One Way Flight To Mars

One of the most expensive aspects of long distance space travel is getting back. This is especially true with any plans on flying to Mars. It would cost exorbitant amounts of money to launch enough fuel with the astronauts for them to turn around and come back. The answer to this problem say some scientists is to just send our next generation of pioneers on one way trips to the big red planet.

Space Colonies

Nasa’s collection of illustrations depicting futuristic space colonies is incredible.  All these are from the Ames research center, and were commissioned in the 70′s.  Unfortunately for me, I don’t think a space society would have much need for artists, unless you were a national treasure or something.  I guess I could be some futuristic version of a trash collector.  Pick me NASA!  Check out some cool images after the jump…
