How am I just now finding out about Elaine Mayes photographs? Anyway, her work is terrific and she has been creating it for some time now. She began documenting the rock and roll revolution in the 1960′s and that eventually transformed into various photographic projects. Her work, new and old, is fantastic, but I am especially drawn to her black and whites. My favorites after the jump.
I am really excited about the forthcoming film from Spike Jonze, Scenes from the Suburbs. The movie was made in collaboration with members of The Arcade Fire and tells the story of a suburban neighborhood taken over by the military. Also, a little added bonus, the movie was filmed in my old neighborhood in Austin, TX. That will only make this movie more enjoyable. Check out the trailer after the jump.
If you have ever played in a band you’ve heard the joke that the drummer is the most replaceable member of the group. I’m not posting this to start a firestorm over the debate, but this group of musicians may be on to something.
As Halloween approaches, I have decided to take it upon myself and try and guide everyone into the spirit. Today, I would like to introduce 3 essentials for this year. Meet Charles Burns, Dead Man’s Bones and Troll 2. More info after the jump…
Earlier this year, I took a little road trip with Royal Forest out to the sand dunes in Monahans, Texas to help out with this video. We arrived just in time to get everything done before a big storm and spent the rest of the evening filming and drinking beer in the desert. All in all, it was an awesome trip. The entire song was played and recorded using just a car battery. I had no clue what would come out of the footage but the band has done an awesome job. Nice work, fellas. Make sure to catch these guys at FUN FUN FUN Fest.
