Austin Summer Monsters

Summer is a Monster!  It pulls you in and eats you alive.  You can’t escape it.  The best thing to do is give in,  put on your Wayfarers, and head to the pool!

Shaun’s new posters were inspired by summertime in the city we love, Austin TX.  Get them here , or in the School Supplies shop.  View more after the jump.

Enviromedia

Jay B recently did a couple of shoots for Enviromedia and the Texas Department of State Health Services. The campaign is geared around teaching minors Tobacco Laws and keeping them from buying or using it. Texas law states that if you do either under the age of 18, you’ll lose your license, which at that age is a terrifying thing.

Country Hip-hop

I know here in Austin you don’t often hear Country and Hip-hop used in the same sentence, let alone used in conjunction to describe some kind of dance that people do willingly. If anyone finds out where in Canada and the United States Diane traveled to and saw people dancing like this, please let me know so I can put it on my “Sh!tnaw I’m Not Traveling There” list.

School Supplies Are Back

It’s that day you kiddos have all been tweeting about. It’s the return of our School Supplies online store! We’ve got a new run of PUBLIC SCHOOL T-shirts printed on American Apparel t’s, another three posters from Jay B’s Tie Your Shoes series, Patrick Swayze, Scout Books, and a couple of tote bags designed by Shaun and Justin.

The first mess of orders we get will nab themselves an extra button and sticker or two. Jay B and William will even throw in a fun little sample of their Tie Your Shoes book collaboration that is in the works. Enjoy kiddos!

All Of The Renegade Class Portraits

You’ve been waiting, and they’re all finally here. Think links to the four galleries of images from Renegade are ready for your perusal. I have split them in to two galleries per day since there are a ton of photos to jump through. They are basically split at 1pm each day, so try to remember when you shot your photo to make it easier to find yourself. If you didn’t buy your photo and still want to email us with the filename and we’ll get it to ya. Enjoy the photos! Casey and I enjoyed shooting them.

PUBLIC SCHOOL Loves Shotgun Party

We became instant fans of the band Shotgun Party while hanging out at the Renegade Craft Fair this weekend. They set up and played a couple of sets right next to our booth both Saturday and Sunday. In the age of AutoTune and becoming internet famous its nice to see people with actual musical talent kicking ass. The band consists of Jenny Parrott (pictured above in our school portrait photo booth), Katy Rose Cox on fiddle and Austin Andrew-Petersen on the stand-up bass. Their brand of Texas Swing and Folk music is incredible and playful. Between their obvious musical talents, showmanship and songwriting abilities they’re a real pleasure to watch. I bought their album, Mean Old Way, today and give it a big thumbs up. Operatar, More Romantic Than Texas and Canned Peaches are my favorite tracks. I embedded a couple of videos of them playing after the jump.

Renegade Craft Fair School Portraits

We want to throw a big shout out of thanks to the Renegade Craft Fair for asking us to be a part of your interactive goodness. Casey and I took a ton of awkward school portraits while we were there, including the above of Erick Montes of The Decoder Ring. We edited the selection down to some of the funniest for your enjoyment here. Check them out after the jump.

The rest of the 600+ images will be posted in a separate categorized gallery tomorrow. Check back to see yours!

Rare Magazine commissioned Casey to photograph and produce this feature on the home of local photographer Dave Mead for their current living issue. Special thanks to Dave and his wonderful family for all of their help during the shoot and for having such amazing taste and style in general. Also, big ups to Adam Fortner from Creative and Sons for his help with styling.

Chris Bomely

I’m not going to say we accept bribes, but Chris Bomely’s name is one we’re happy to tell you about since he took it upon himself to make us some rad PUBLIC SCHOOL stickers back in the day after he won a t-shirt from us. He’s a super nice guy with some great work. I’ve been digging his weekly iPhone wallpapers, but he just shared a poster he designed with us in the PUBLIC SCHOOL Show & Tell Flickr group which is cool as well. Check out his other wallpapers after the jump.
