Our friend Greg Leppert is, in his own words, “a curious thinker and tinkerer”. We couldn’t describe him any better. He’s an example of someone who began their career in graphic design, and through curiosity and experimentation has successfully branched out into many other facets of design.
The meshing of technology with art has become a defining characteristic of his work, and in my opinion, his work is strongest when doing so.
Don’t Be Still My Heart is a look at what we say with our bodies, consciously and subconsciously, by utilizing the heart as a means of controlling the speed of a song (wisely chosen “Linus and Lucy” by Vince Guaraldi).
That Rice Costs Too Much Rice utilizes an unusual currency to give a new perspective on the true value of the purchasing decisions we make as consumers. It works as a bookmarklet that replaces prices on a selected webpage with the number of 50lb bags of rice that could be purchased for third world families through an aid organization.
It’s a testament to Greg’s approach to creativity that he can go from projects like those above to traditional typesetting, UI design, programming and music. His ability to not limit himself to one medium or field is incredibly inspiring, and something I feel like we should all work toward.
