In Panama where people’s finances are limited, these men spent what little they have to decorate their bicycles as a representation of their personality. José Castrellón travelled around trying to find several of them and produced this series he calls “Priti Baiks“. See more after the jump.
Mirror self-portraits are sort of weird, but are way weirder when you swap out the phone for a pop-tart. The Self Pop Tart Tumblr is a testament to that.
To inspire a discussion about the smoking ban in Belgium, photographer Frieke Janssens, produced this portrait series of different prototypical smokers depicted by children. She was inspired after seeing the video of the Indonesian baby who was hooked on smoking. She was struck by the American reaction of being repulsed, compared to the overall Indonesian reaction of considering it normal. See the rest after the jump. Apparently the cigarettes were some sort of “dummy” cigarette, so keep those pitchforks stowed away.
A few weeks back I was asked by The Daily to cover the filming of an episode of Toddlers & Tiaras where one of their writers would be embedded as a guest judge. It was an interesting experience to say the least. The story was published today and is definitely worth a read and also includes a . Our very own Jay B Sauceda was asked recently by the curatorial board of Pecha Kucha to speak about his work for the next Pecha Kucha Night. It’ll be taking place next Thursday, November 17th, at 916 Springdale, which is the old Goodwill Warehouse on the east side. It starts at 8:20, but as usual it’ll be a packed out so get there early. Other presenters include Bale Creek Allen, Will Hornaday, Robert Craft, Andrew Yates, and Mike Wolf.
