I’m really enjoying the work of Brooklyn based artist Courtney Reagor. She has a great sense of humor to her work that meshes really well with her slapstick aesthetic. Courtney manages to showcase a wacky personality in all of her work including this green onion wearing a scrunchie!
Also, make sure to check out her blog Raised On Sandwiches.
We are 1976 is having a show opening this Friday featuring our pal Kyle Steed and a few other awesome artists. Be sure to go check it out if you are in the Dallas area. See more here: We Are 1976: Fallout.
Nicole Lavelle is easily one of the most interesting people I know. We were introduced through our mutual mentor Kate Bingaman-Burt in 2009. Earlier this summer I previously posted about her bamboo bike trip and in the past few weeks I watched her create a body of work, Points of Interest, in response to her epic journey across America on a bike she built.
“This is a new kind of work for me! I really enjoy writing, and the power of language, and wanted to incorporate more of it into my work.”
This collection of work, ink drawings of words & ideas, was installed at Stumptown Coffee on SE Division Street in Portland, Oregon in September 2011. See/read much more after the jump!
Our buddy Paul Windle made these portraits all the way back in April for a the Winners! Press zine party he had before our Varsity exhibition at We Are 1976. I think we should make some trading cards, because these are ridiculously awesome. Thanks again Paul! Check em all out after the jump and see if you can recognize everyone.
This RAD collab project by the extremely talented & charming Adam Garcia (aka The Pressure) is just brilliant. 24/7 this dude is up to something cool and most recently he snagged some work from friends and made his own. Here’s his blurb about the project…
TRUST ME! is a collaborative project that I put together at CO Exhibitions in Minneapolis. I asked a number of friends, designers, illustrators, artists and photographers, to give me any piece of one-color work. This work could be a discard, a rejected project or something original for the show. Anything. I’d then take that piece and do something to it, and they wouldn’t see the results until the night of the show. The idea is about fun, process, and surprise. Giclee prints and screenprinted show posters available through Burlesque.
Also, you can read an in-depth interview about the idea here.
