Michael Paukner

It’s a good thing I found Michael Paukner’s work yesterday or otherwise you’d be at a total loss for where the next solar eclipse paths are leading up to 2025. You also wouldn’t know how many satellites every country has up in space or where all the oldest trees are in the world. It’s a really good thing I found his work.

Levis Go To Work Rebuttal

An interesting point was raised by something Justin read yesterday concerning the new Levi’s Go Work ad. Matt posted the video a few weeks back after showing all of us at the studio and we were all quite moved by it. Along with Wieden + Kennedy’s other great patriotic Dodge ad, felt like the recent slew of pro-American manufacturing commercials (that last one is by GS&P) was a good thing. What Justin read though raised a very valid point about an otherwise fantastic piece of advertising.

SummerWinter by Amber B Diana

Really nice video that reveals all aspects of Amber B Diana’s most recent exhibition in LA. Her husband did a great job filming and the music is by the extremely rad band Cults.

Sy

Here we have some really creative graffiti by Sy.  I’ve never seen it done quite like this.  Via Format.  A couple more after the jump.

Wordpress For The Rest Of Us

I’d like to throw a quick shout out to the new company my buddy co-founded and that is hosting PUBLIC SCHOOL. It is called WP Engine and is a new Wordpress hosting platform that is more advanced and configurable than Wordpress.com but a hell of a lot cheaper than Wordpress’ enterprise solutions. They’re publicly launching and opening up the waiting list for signups this week but over the last two months we’ve been lucky enough to be given some of the first access to the platform.

My buddy Cullen had complained to me for a while that there were no cheap solutions for Wordpress hosting that handled backups, security, and scalability for blogs. Your options were limited to Wordpress.com which only allows for a tiny bit of customization, a self hosted installation with which you have to handle all of the backups and upgrades, or a full on Wordpress enterprise solution which costs several thousands of dollars a month. Faced with that problem he and his partner decided to build a company around solving that problem.

I Want To Live In Bomboland

There are a few artists who I see that make me wish I lived in the worlds they created. Bombo, aka Maurizio Santucci, is now one of those artists. He is an illustrator based in Lucca, Italy and has some of the most playful stuff I have seen in a while. He has the uncanny ability to make pretty much anything look cute, including the above oil drenched raindrops. Check out more of his work after the jump.

Stan Mott

I honestly wish I knew more about who Stan Mott was but there isn’t a ton of information to be had. Luckily though there is plenty of imagery to be had. My favorite illustration of his if of a contraption that embeds “You have just run into a Volkswagen” right after you run in to the back of said Volkswagen. More quirky illustrations after the jump.
