Call me old fashioned, but if I want to hear dueling guitars I stick with the Allman Brothers Band. I’ve never gotten in to Ratatat as much as some of my other studio-mates have, but this new music video they had produced is as equally cool of a concept as it is weird. It’s made using nothing but Getty Video stock footage. Check it.
Hi-Fi is a beautiful video by Bante that illustrates many of the album covers designed by Reid Miles while he had his working relationship with Blue Note Records. Jazz fiend or not (apparently Reid wasn’t), the album covers he designed are beautiful type heavy works of art. Bante did a wonderful job of bringing these timeless covers to life.
The video above has to be the best thing I’ve seen on the internet in a long ass time. Heavy doses of nostalgia and raw talent packaged into five minutes of pure awesomeness. How did nearly a year go by without me ever seeing this?
For your convenience I’ve put the rest of his Soul Toons episodes after the jump. If you like them, remember that the best way to help an original content director on Youtube is to subscribe, “like” or comment on their videos.
I don’t know many people that don’t like The Boss, so I’m sure these Springstreets maps of over 200 lyrical references will sell quickly. Great idea and execution by Dan Cassaro.
Ben Reed did what was obvious for The Wave Pictures’ EP video and its beautiful. It’s nearly 4 minutes of secondhand books and illustrations used to illustrate the song.
Motivation. On Monday mornings, it can be a hard thing to come by. Here’s a ray of hope for you then: if watching this little girl shred doesn’t make you feel like you can accomplish anything you put your mind to, I don’t know what will. Fair warning, though: watch it too many times and this little girl might make you feel that if she’s able to do this at age 5, you’re WAY behind. I mean WAY WAY behind.
My friends over at WeAreRecidivists would like to play you some music. We at Public School are open to all kinds of music, but specifically, if you are a hip hop fan, check out the selection that Mr. Ryan Jamison and posse have so generously supplied.
PUBLIC SCHOOL is a group of creative folk working on the east side of Austin. This site is our outlet for sharing the things we find while working in our respective creative fields.
