This floor lamp made from a salvaged street lamp is incredible. I get the impression from the site that its a one of a kind, but I’m not entirely sure. If you’ve got an extra $2,400 laying around you can find out for yourself.
I’m really enjoying the work of Rich Brilliant Willing, a NY based studio created by three graduates of the Rhode Island School of Design. Creating simple, pared-down, industrial pieces that feel fresh seems like a tough task, but these dudes have. There is a level of playfulness in the work that makes them feel unique, and fun, which seems like an even more difficult task than fresh within this discipline. They also have a great website, courtesy of Studio Lin.
A few of my favorites after the jump, for those of you out there wondering what you could get me for Christmas (that means you, woman with a lot of money looking to earn the love of a young, or sort of young, dude).
The Dopludo Collective has some really awesome and varied work. From illustration to woodwork, these guys cover all bases. Check them out here. I especially love the laptop stand shown after the jump…
In addition to blogging here on Public School, I also contribute to the canadian design blog Poppytalk. This year they’ve started a Contributor’s Holiday Gift Guide series in which mine was the first to go live…check it out here!
You’ll find my curated list consisting of a sweet pocket knife, a Geoff McFetridge blanket, waxed twill rucksack, fancy prints, totem cups, and even some cowboy boot house slippers.
I’m posting this because I know that there isn’t a single person who didn’t experience this growing up. Once again, The Oatmeal describes our lives exactly as they are.
