The incredible design / production house Imaginary Forces, created this little video a while back for Paul Rand’s posthumous introduction into The One Club’s Hall of Fame . I don’t why it took me so long to find out about this video. Watch it here.
I posted a link to this yesterday on our note cards section, but after a second look, decided that it deserved a full entry. ”Dare To Be Square” is a new book showcasing the quirky quilts by Seattle based designer, Boo Davis.
I am a recent fan of the illustration work done by Mr. Ben Newman. He possesses a fun, colorful, retro style that is almost impossible not to like. Some more work of his after the jump…
With our office being on the east side of Austin, we see plenty of hipster dinosaurs running around. I can assure you that Molly has depicted them in this coloring book doing and saying exactly what they do in real life. It’s brilliant.
The Portland Museum of Contemporary Craft invited local graphic designer and educator Kate Bingaman-Burt and designer Clifton Burt to create an exhibition from materials often overlooked in museum collections. The show will be up from August 26, 2010 until January 8, 2011…which means I will be able to visit it in person during Novemeber!
If I had to choose, I would have to say that the South American interpretation of modern architecture is definitely my favorite. Brazilian architects specifically, seem to have a way of designing their buildings feel to warm and livable, despite being constructed from fairly rigid and cold materials. This project by Marcio Kogan is the perfect example of what I love about the architecture from this region. The structure has simple angular volumes, beautiful concrete form work, and flexible interaction between the indoor and outdoor spaces. It also doesn’t hurt that it is literally 20 yards from the ocean, in Brazil.
Above you can see what Job Wouters uses to create amazing and overwhelming typography work. This Amsterdam based artist adores letterforms, which consume his astounding portfolio. Keep reading to see examples of his work!
Book designer John Gall doesn’t need our help moving his portfolio around the web; he happens to be the creator of many iconic book covers and art director at Vintage/Anchor books. As young designers, we often dream about landing jobs to design book covers, yet with print fading, design work could be fading as well. So, John, any words of advice? …check out the interview from design bureau . A few highlights after the jump…
Fantastic work by Studio Lin, the graphic design practice of Alex Lin.
Yum Yum UK produced these awesome 3-D illustrations for digital arts magazine. This style is a favorite of ours, as we are always fans of the low-tech.
