We had so much fun at last year’s Renegade Craft Fair that when they asked if we wanted to participate again, we said “chyeah”! We’ll be back again with new posters, new knick knacks and an all new school sports related photo booth. Come by to snap a photo and pick up some cool stuff on May 21+22 from 11am to 7pm. For all the details check out the Renegade Austin website. See yall soon!
If you’re about to be grilling in or around Austin, be sure to pick up this month’s Austin Monthly for their feature on How to Barbecue Like a Pit Master. I photographed this feature for them using County Line‘s BBQ and my buddy Dustin as our Pit Master Model. It was a fun shoot.
Don’t forget about the big man with the gift of gab, Aaron Draplin. He’ll be here on our turf in less than a week. You may remember the Kickstarter we mentioned before. Well it reached its goal, and now that trash talkin’ Northwest-Midwesterner is coming down here to run his mouth. We’re super pumped to have him come down and you should be too. All the fun happens on April 7th from 7:30-10:30. If you supported the Kickstarter, entrance is free. Otherwise, you’ll need to fork over $10. If you get there early though, you’ll score some of those famous Field Notes.
The Creative Workers Union and Lewis Carnegie are the masterminds behind this design madness and it is sponsored by PUBLIC SCHOOL, Pentagram, Industry Print Shop and Foxtrot Bravo Alpha. Live Oak Brewing is on the publicity materials as well, so you know what that means.

There’s a lot of information floating around about how much radiation we’re all gonna be exposed to because of the Japan nuclear crisis, but a lot of it is overblown. It is absolutely a horrible situation, but the average person outside of the exclusion zone is probably in good shape to not receive any more radiation than they would in any other instance. Information is Beautiful has broken down the normal everyday things we do alongside the current crisis to give you some perspective on the whole thing.
Armin just reminded me about UnderConsideration’s Brand New Awards. The deadline for entries is March 31st. They are calling all identity work, big and small, produced during 2010. Winners will have their work published in both a hard bound and iPad edition gallery of the work, which they will receive for free. There’s also a $3,000 bonus donation to charity for three of the winners. The pricing is pretty cheap for entry and super simple unlike many of the competitions like this.
Good luck everyone!
