South By Leo Burnett

Screen Shot 2012-05-14 at 2.42.23 PM

We are constantly being asked “what is Public School?” We’re not a traditional agency, but we’re not a loose co-operative. Trying to explain what that means though has been difficult. Thankfully, the talented folks at Leo Burnett were able to make some sense of my rambling explanation and have created this great little video out of an interview we did during South By Southwest. Check it out after the jump.

American Photo Feature

jayb_americanphoto_cover

DJ Stout of Austin’ Pentagram Austin recommended to the editors at American Photo that they feature my work in their One To Watch feature recently. I’m excited that they obliged. In the current issue, they’ve featured a backstory on how I got in to photography through a rough stint in politics, and the projects I am currently working on. You can see a high resolution version of it here if you’d like to read the story. Thanks DJ!

Casey just wrapped up a shoot for the new Elizabeth Street Cafe on South First. Check out the new photographs after the jump and the review over at Culture Map. The building and food are both incredible.

The Daily – Tucker Max

020512-books-front-ss

Last week I was asked to photograph bad boy of literature, Tucker Max. After nearly a decade of writing about his mid-20′s exploits, his final book in the Frat-ire genre is coming out tomorrow. The Daily published a feature yesterday on their iPad only newspaper app, but you can catch the article online, as well as a couple other portraits that I shot of him here.

Toddlers & Tiaras

photo

A few weeks back I was asked by The Daily to cover the filming of an episode of Toddlers & Tiaras where one of their writers would be embedded as a guest judge. It was an interesting experience to say the least. The story was published today and is definitely worth a read and also includes a . It’s cheeky and in general follows the same sentiment I had towards the whole experience. The author, Rich Juzwiak, has the longer unedited version on his blog as well. My take on it is here. After the jump are some of the images that didn’t run in the final version.

What do you think about child beauty pageants and the T.V. show?
